New Horses:

We are pleased to announce the purchase of two new mares for our mare band.  Blitzen is delighted!  Plain Dealing’s Greta (Prydarson/Sophia/Solar) is an elegant brown dun mare from the Plain Dealing Farm breeding program.  We have been pleased with the foals from her close relative Plain Dealing’s Eastra and look forward to breeding her later this year.  We also added GFF Rosalia (Tolgar/Sophia I/Bayshore Laurel), a young grey dun mare from the Glick Fjord Farm program.  It will be several years before she is bred but we think she will cross nicely with Blitzen.

Culpeper Harvest Days Farm Tour:

It’s early, but mark your calendars for October 7th and 8th.  Ironwood Farm will be a 2017 Culpeper Harvest Days Farm Tour Participant again. On Sunday, we will offer a draft demonstration and mini-riding lessons as part of the program.  The demonstration is free and the mini lessons will have a nominal charge for about 10 minutes of Fjord riding.  More information is forthcoming.

2017 Shows:

The Ironwood Farm Fjords will be out and about showing in 2017.  Helen Hayn will be showing Ironwood Mary Ann at recognized dressage shows in pursuit of a USDF breed award, as well as the CDCTA Pony Cup.   Meanwhile Gretchen Zwerner has returned and will be showing Mary Ann in low level jumpers and starter horse trials in pursuit of her NFHR Excellence Award.  Helen Hayn will continue showing Ironwood Roheryn with a move up to Beginner Novice planned for later this spring.

We had success with shows in March and April, so May looks promising.

Entries have been made as follows:

May 6 - 7 - CDCTA Dressage at Morven Park.   Ironwood Mary Ann and Helen Hayn, Training 3 an First 1 tests.

May 28 -- Maryland Horse Trials Starter #3.  Ironwood Mary Ann and Gretchen, Elementary Novice, Ironwood Roheryn and Helen Hayn, Beginner Novice
