SF Saska, S4, G4 (DOB 4/11/92) is a Norwegian Fjord from imported Dutch lines. She’s 14.1, rides and drives. Her movement is fantastic. She is used on our lesson program. Saska is our alpha mare and worshipped as a goddess by the other horses. We appreciate her as the dam of our stallion, Ironwood Blitzen. His ability to perform is a tribute to her own athleticism.

Lupin, S1, G1, E, V and HOF(4/26/1995)
We are pleased to announce the lease of a very special high quality mares, Lupin, S1, G1, V, E, HOF. Lupin is the daughter of our own Serina, S1, G4, V and is one of the few Fjords in North America to have achieved this level of success in performance. The HOF designation is the Hall of Fame award which means that at least two of her offspring also have achieve medallions of quality in the NFHR system. So Lupin not only can do it, she can reproduce that ability in her offspring. Lupin has had seven foals, including our 2009 red dun colt. Ironwood Roheryn. We thank Catherine Lassesen for the opportunity to lease Lupin and we are looking forward to purchasing this wonderful mare.

Helle, S1, G4 (DOB 4/7/98) is one of the sweetest horses around. Good thing, too because she is named after the Norse goddess of death. She rides and drives like a champ. She loves people and never misses the chance for a pat. Helle is one of our best of our lesson program. Helle has produced three foals: Ironwood Danne Ekstrom (red dun), Ironwood Julian and Ironwood Orion.
At present, Helle is off the broodmare track and on the performance track with Olivia Schiermeyer, one of our students. Helle and Olivia have won several year end awards in dressage and eventing, as well as the Junior championship at the Virginia Draft Horse and Mule Show. Helle will even impersonate a zebra as she did at a dressage team challenge. And yes, the Fjord team won best costume.

FC Madellin (DOB 5/1/98) is a rare white dun. There are only about 40 +/- in the United States. However, she does not stay white for long. She spends much of her time rolling and working on being a brown dun. Maddie has been used in lessons and has become quite a show horse. She stunned us by winning a reserve championship at her second show.
She has been evaluated as a high red ribbon Fjord on conformation. She has produced five lovely foals: four white duns Ironwood Helena, Ironwood Lordalen, Ironwood Premiert and Ironwood Quicksilver and one brown dun, Ironwood Kristiana.
We are leaving Maddie open in 2010 with the hope of getting in a performance test or two with her at the 2010 Virginia NFHR Evaluation. At Ironwood Farm, we like to our mares to have performance credentials, too.

Ironwood Crow Hreidar (DOB 5/31/04)
Our latest addition to the riding program was born on our farm in 2004. Crow is a half brother to our stallion, Blitzen. They share Saska as their dam. He is by the gray dun stallion, Ulend, and Crow also is a gray dun. Crow has the classic dark markings on his face and zebra stripes on his front and rear legs. He is a lovely example of a draftier type Fjord and does well in conformation. He was been started under saddle without issue. In fact, he has no issues with anything whatsoever. Crow is Mr. Mellow.
We plan to enter him in NFHR performance tests in 2010.

Short Creek’s Quinn (DOB 6/29/03)
Sage is a sweet young gelding from Canada. We had him sent to us as a consignment horse and decided to keep him because he was such a nice guy. He’s working in the lesson program and going to horse shows. Sage has a curious personality. He is always the first to the fence line for a pat or a treat. He also is really good at games. This pony flies when barrel racing or pole bending .

H.D. Sebastian (DOB 7/17/94)
Sebastian is a half sibling to Helle, sharing the same dam, SF Signe. He’s shorter and rounder. He’s laid back, a stalwart of our lesson program who can go for hours and hours, and a solid citizen. Sebastian can take a beginner around a show with no issue. A horse like Sebastian is worth his weight in gold. We are pleased to have him on the farm and he’s much loved by our lesson students .
